About Tom Peron
Discover the story behind Tom Peron, a seasoned jazz trumpeter and dedicated instructor. Learn about his journey, his passion for jazz, and what makes his approach to teaching truly unique.

From festivals to recording studios
A significant milestone in my early career was making lead trumpet in the Allstate Jazz Band, which led me to San Diego, California. In 1982, I joined an extraordinary group led by pianist Jessica Williams, where I met the fiery San Francisco drummer, Bud Spangler. Together, with John Wiitala on bass, we recorded "Interplay," which quickly climbed the Gavin radio charts and became a bestseller. For nearly thirty years, I've had the privilege of performing throughout Northern California, including at prestigious events like the Monterey Jazz Festival and the San Jose Jazz Festival, and currently I have been performing in Tennessee.

Unlocking your trumpet potential
What sets my trumpet lessons apart is the unique blend of my three decades of professional playing and dedicated student instruction, particularly my deep experience in jazz. I believe in fostering not just technical skill, but also artistic expression. Students can expect to achieve significant results, developing the crucial ability to play "soft" on the trumpet, which is essential for nuance and control, and gaining confidence in improvisation, a cornerstone of jazz performance.
My philosophy on music
My journey with the trumpet began at a very early age. Inspired by my father and brother, both accomplished trumpet players. Their influence ignited a spark that would soon become a lifelong passion. In high school, playing in the jazz band and listening to legends like Miles Davis and Clifford Brown deepened my love for the instrument. I started teaching when I was just fifteen, and by nineteen, I had embarked on my professional career.
